Designed by Roger Rausbach and constructed by John and Sue in 1988, this 4,400-square-foot residence was designed with energy efficiency and environmental responsibility in mind—well ahead of its time.

The home is temperature-controlled by geothermal technology, providing efficient heating and cooling while contributing to a remarkably low energy cost. Today, the home maintains a rolling average monthly energy cost of approximately $215 from Green Mountain Energy.

The landscape was designed with the same philosophy. Jasmine ivy surrounds the home, creating a lush groundcover that requires minimal irrigation and maintenance. Mature live oaks provide natural shade and shelter from the intense western sun, helping further reduce the home's cooling demands.

More than three decades later, the residence remains a compelling example of how thoughtful design, renewable energy technology, and natural landscaping can work together to create a home that is comfortable, efficient, and enduring.
